Use these one spoonful hacks to lose weight and keep it off for good…

1. A Spoonful of Apple Cider Vinegar for Blood Sugar Support

apple cider vinegar for weight lossApple cider vinegar has a number of uses around the home as well as externally and internally for the body. When you add a teaspoonful to a 12 ounce glass of water you’ll be adding in nutrients that you just wouldn’t get from water alone, and hydrate yourself at the same time. You’ll also be helping to keep your blood sugar levels stable.

The best apple cider vinegar is organic and unpasteurized, and contains “mother of vinegar”. One brand that is highly recommended and easily found locally or online is Braggs.

Why It Works: Monitoring your blood sugar, or at least keeping it in mind when you’re crafting and timing your meals, is a good way to avoid spikes that can lead to weight gain. Research into how ACV helps your blood sugar is very promising, and worth making it a part of your daily weight loss routine.

2. A Spoonful of Raw Organic Honey for Digestive Enzymes

There are enzymes and antioxidants in unprocessed honey that are beneficial to the body, but sadly aren’t found in the majority of honey found nationwide. The amount of enzymes in honey that hasn’t been processed is amazing, thousands of different enzymes designed to help the digestive system.

raw honey

Processed honey, the most commonly found honey, has these enzymes stripped away, and therefore doesn’t provide the same benefit. Be sure the container lists both organic and raw on the label. Although there’s no such thing as organic bees, the fields surrounding the honey production facility will be certified organic.

Why It Works: Keeping your digestive system happy is a major component for losing weight. The digestive enzymes and antioxidants in raw organic honey support the digestive system and the body as a whole, helping you slim down without exerting much effort.

3. A Spoonful of Coconut Oil to Suppress Your Appetite

Coconut oil has several benefits, and when you’re looking to lose weight the most important of these is its ability to help with weight loss. When comparing oils it’s easy to see that coconut oil has more saturated fat than some of the most commonly used oils, but it also contains healthy fats, and the saturated fat it contains is not the same sort of saturated fat found in a cheeseburger.

You can use it in your cooking, or you can take a spoonful directly if you’re looking to hold yourself over between meals. It has a delicious buttery flavor that will make you feel like you’re not even on a weight loss program.

Why It Works: Coconut oil is rich in fatty acids that not only help you feel full when you eat it, but go to work increasing your metabolism so that you’ll naturally burn fat.

Ginger is a spice that will help you get rid of fat specifically, not just overall body weight. This is important when trying to hack your weight loss because you want to make sure that it’s fat you’re losing and not simply water weight or muscle mass.

You don’t have to stuff a spoonful of ginger powder or minced ginger in your mouth to get the benefit. Add a teaspoon or a tablespoon to a dish that you’re making and you’ll get the positive effects it entails. It can help spice up a soup or chili, and can even give a smoothie a punch.

Why It Works: Ginger works on the body in two ways, it helps to improve your digestion, which alone will help you lose weight if you’ve struggled with a sluggish digestion. It also acts as a metabolism booster, which means you’ll be burning more calories per hour than before, leading to effortless weight loss.

But perhaps the easiest way to eat more turmeric is to add it to lean meats, from lean beef to chicken breast. It has the ability not only to give the dish an amazing color, but also a delicious flavor that plays nice with other spices.

Why It Works: Turmeric is one of the lesser-known spices that is effective for weight loss. It acts as an anti-inflammatory, so it will help you ache less and give you more get-up-and-go that results in quick weight loss when combined with a healthy diet.

7. A Spoonful of Flaxseed for Omega-3s

Flax will not only help keep you satiated until your next meal, it contains antioxidants and fiber that make it more likely that your weight loss strategy will pay dividends.

Adding ground flax to your diet is as easy as using a spoon. It sprinkles over the top of a salad, and can quickly be added to a soup or smoothie to boost its nutrition without changing the taste much.

Add a spoonful of lemon juice to a glass of hot water first thing in the morning and you’ll be helping your digestion and starting your day off with a blast of Vitamin C. Add lemon to your water throughout the day and you’ll be helping to alkalinize the body which helps with weight loss.

Why It Works: Having a properly functioning immune system is key to losing weight. Not only will you be less likely to come down with a cold that can put your exercising on ice, but Vitamin C can help turn your body into a fat-burning device rather than a fat-storing one.

10. A Spoonful of Dark Cacao Powder for Antioxidants

dark cacao powderYou’ve probably heard of the beneficial effects of dark chocolate, that it’s loaded with antioxidants and doesn’t have the added sugar that’s in milk chocolate. One of the most accessible ways to enjoy dark chocolate is with dark cacao powder.

Mashing it up makes it even easier to digest, and a spoonful will give you a jump on the amount of fiber you’ll need to consume each day in order to facilitate weight loss. Always be sure that you’re getting enough fiber, a minimum of 25 grams and up to 35 grams if you can manage it. Start slowly to increase your fiber and you’ll see results via the weight you lose.

Why It Works: Avocados are full of healthy fats which will actually help you to burn fat rather than gain it. They’re also a great source of potassium, an important mineral when trying to lose weight.

How can I loose belly fat?

    • sonny says:

You can’t target just belly fat. Anytime you hear that it is a lie. Belly fat is lost like all other fat correct eating and the right exercise, it just happens to be that belly fat is usually the last place to lose it

      • Hellthee1 says:

Saying foods can target certain areas of the body to lose fat, is as true as the targeted painkillers that have almost been faded out after a huge court battle. These so called fat targeting foods, would have to be part of the Nanoparticle Technology of Science and Medication, and I guarantee you it hasnt reached there as yet. It may in the future, but not yet. So, any food that anyone claims to target a certain area, has been mislead. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC419715/

    • Diana says:

Look up and check out MUFA for belly fat, certain good fats for example- avocados target that area.

    • Jeff says:

Sonny is right – you can’t target a specific area of the body to lose fat. Fat doesn’t work like that.

The only way to lose belly fat is to simply LOSE FAT. You do that by diet and exercise combined. Your weight may not decrease rapidly because you’re gaining muscle – but the inches will go down pretty quick.

    • N.D. says:

Susana, cut down dramatically on your sugar intake. Look at the nutrition label on packaged foods including tinned foods, plus your breads and yohurts etc and choose the ones lowest in sugar. I know it is often a balancing act between low fat or low sugar as manufacters will bulk up food with one or the other but it gets easier with practice or look for a fresh alternative. ie can you swap out tinned tomatoes for fresh tomatoes etc and it tastes so much better, if your budget allows go back to cooking from scratch with fresh ingredients and illiminate as far as possibe any processed foods or packaged foods. Excess sugars in your diet get converted to fat and end up on your belly. Belly fat is a precursor to diabetes and heart disease, two of the biggest curses to modern western health.

Cuttting sugars (to less than 6 added teaspoonfuls a day – more if you can) has a double affect, not only will you stop acquiring belly fat it helps you to loose excess fluids.

And as always get some fresh air and exercise a couple of times a week, it doesnt have to be difficult, walking is great for you mind, body spirit incorporate a little walking into your day wherever you can.

      Good luck.

  2. Katie says:

I’d just like point out that people have been harmed trying to take a spoonful of cinnamon, and probably the same goes for any other dry powder. They end up inhaling some of it. Several people have ended up with aspirant pneumonia from the powder getting into their lungs.

    • Bembu says:

Yes, thanks for pointing that out! You should never just take a spoonful of cinnamon directly. One of the best combinations is to mix one teaspoon honey with one teaspoon cinnamon in a cup of tea.

      • Kathy says:

Or, just get cinnamon capsules from the drug store or healthfood store. taken with food, they lower blood sugar and the caps are perfect. I use 2000 mgs – but take with food cinnamon burps are nasty.

    • Fran says:

you are never to take cinnamon by the spoonful please think this through, dissolve it in some hot water and drink

    • T says:

There not saying swallow a spoonful of cinnamon . There saying dissolve it in water?!

    • Erin says:

I also would like to point out how dangerous cassia cinnamon is. The grocery store cinnamon and capsule you can buy are cassia cinnamon and should not be regularly ingested. Ceylon cinnamon is what this article should say.

      • Nadia says:

I totally agree with Fran. Use only Ceylon cinnamon. If you use regular bought store cinnamon it could cause liver damage.

    • Eric says:

well the ads that i read says to mix the dry ingredients to a glass of warm water i haven’t read anywhere to just take it plain…. but good that you explained because some people would do just that….

  3. Rose says:

I am way over weight and I’m going to try. Been looking at your web site.I’m going to try will post to let you know how I due

  4. Karla says:

These are natural foods and great tips. As far as the dry powders adding some water should work. Although I drink a protein shake after my workout I find myself hungry afterwards so I will definitely try it.

  5. M says:

Can I mix all 11 of these ingredients together for results?

    • Diana says:

I do, first drink every morning on a empty stomach and it works better.

      • Rose says:

Why doesn’t the cinnamon dissolve? Is my water not hot enough?

        Thank you!

        • Gina says:

No Cinnamon is going to dissolve no matter how hot your water is..however, make sure you are using Ceylon Cinnamon.. it is the only True Cinnamon out there that does not negatively affect the liver… the other cinnamon’s do. They also become like a gel at the bottom of your cup.. whereas Ceylon Cinnamon stays in the granule form… which you can ingest at the end if you do not drink it down.

    • Shelly says:

I will try some of these recipes as I never thought of having spices in water

  6. LeKré says:

How does this work? Is it a diet? How long do you have to do this? How many pounds can you lose and how long does it take to see results? I want details. Lol.

  7. Ckitson says:

I mix a tsp of cinnamon with a tablespoon of raw honey and have my kids suck it off of a little spoon whenever they get a cough, and it helps tremendously.

  8. Jess says:

Is this 11 spoonfuls A DAY? EVERYDAY?

  9. April G says:

I found a great recipe that includes 4 of the foods on your list. Its a little like honey-butter but in our house we call it the “Superfood Spread”.
Take equal parts organic Coconut Oil and raw organic unprocessed honey and add cinnamon, ground cloves, and ground ginger. I’m sure you could add dark cacao powder as well. Whisk until well-combined and use as a spread on toast, a dip for fruit, etc. If it gets warm it may separate, just whisk again. All the ingredients are shelf-stable so I’m sure that if you made up a couple batches you could vacuum-can it (to remove the oxygen) and put it up for long-term storage.

  10. Jennifer says:

I have been taking flaxseed every morning to start my day off and have noticed a difference, but I also take Chia seeds. Do chia seeds have any benefits as well or am I just wasting my time taking it? I also didnt know ginger did so much so I will try it.

  11. Joanne curry says:

Can I combine all the ingredients together

  12. kat says:

You can find cinnamon and turmeric in capsule form also. I believe ginger is there too. A fantastic way to take apple cider vinegar, at least for me, is to add lemon juice and honey to it (closer to 8oz water) and stir with a cinnamon stick.

    • Sheryl says:

Taking the capsule form has little binifit. By the time you digest the capsule to get the actual product it’s moved on and obsorption is lost. Best way is the raw natural form. Also black pepper makes turmeric absoebes by the body 2000x. Love the apple cyder vinegar mixture.

  13. michele says:

So do you do all 10 everyday or which ones do you recommend daily for a 49 year olds weight loss.

  14. Rebeca Alaniz says:

Question is when is the best time to take these in the am or pm and if so a.l together or certain ones?

  15. jodi says:

You can put any powder in food. Taking it raw not a good idea.

  16. Glynishall says:

They sell cinnamon capsules at walgreens , and walmart . Several health food stores have them also. Straight cinnamon in a capsule.

  17. pami says:

I have had tumeric tea with cinamon and gloves and ginger andhad no ill effects from it. They are all vderuy good for you. My blood pressure is down and my weight is down. You dont inhale it.

  18. ty says:

try teaspoon each of honey and cinnamon and into the lemon juice in hot water. I always use this when feeling like I’m coming down with something or have a sore throat.

  19. RegisteredNurse says:

Be very careful ingesting cinnamon by the spoonful. It is a powerful systemic irritant and you can make yourself very sick doing that. A dangerous fad…

  20. KetoDieter says:

I agree with RegisteredNurse. Be very careful how much regular “(Cassia) cinnamon” you take, because too much is toxic, containing coumarin which causes liver damage in high doses. The best and safest cinnamon to take is “True (Ceylon) Cinnamon”.

I don’t know if this will help anyone, but when I was pregnant with my last child I was nauseated all the time, and I started putting a couple shakes of powdered ginger directly into my water. I got addicted to it lol. It doesn’t float like cinnamon does, and it flavors the water nicely. Quick and Easy.

  31. Chantel says:

Honey can be used with most of these spices and herbs. I always have shelves full of mason jars with all sort of concoctions. I even have a big jar with honey, ginger, turmeric, cinnamon, lemon juice and a sprig of thyme. It doesn’t taste fabulous, but tastes much better than most cold meds. As for the other items, I would just sprinkle flax over my oatmeal, maybe infuse the vinegar with the thyme and add it to my lunchtime salad along with the avocado. Infusing probably won’t be as potent as taking it straight, but might make it easier to commit to.

  32. Tina says:

When mixing honey and cinnamon in water are you suppose to boil your water and pour over the tsp of cinnamon and let cool and then add 2 tsp of honey and drink half 45 minutes after dinner and refrigerate the other half and drink in the morning on a empty stomach. My question is are you not to have anything to drink at night after you drink the mixture and in morning how long after you drink the mixture do you drink and eat?

  33. Ashton says:

In order to lose weight and burn fat, you will need 2 things: a healthy eating plan and some kind of activity that you enjoy. Although each of them are equally important, the bulk of your time should be devoted to a balanced diet. This means as much as 80% of your diet planning has to be on nutrition.
Eating a healthy blend of foods with proteins, carbs and fats will help the body to process the intake much better and stoke the fat burning processes that are inside of everybody. Protein is especially good for building the kind of lean muscle tissue that burns excess calories and targets fat cells.
You will also need an activity to accentuate the diet plan. It can be anything that will be done on a regular basis. Some of the most popular types are walking, swimming, biking, yoga or resistance training. Any of them will do and can complement the diet plan. Shoot for 1 pound per week maximum and this weight loss will be permanent.

Are you really going to try and dump all that in a glass of water and drink it? Good luck
with that, especially seeing as water and oil dont mix to begin with.

  39. So what you’re saying is , as long as we consume spoonfuls of these ridiculous powders, we will lose weight. What a bunch of BS. How about this. Watch what you’re eating. Not everything works for everyone. We’re all built differently. What works for me may not work for most of the population. I’ve taken off 50lbs and kept it off for years. I didn’t do it with exercise, diet or this nonsense you’re talking about. I did by changing a few simple things that anyone can do and everyone will succeed. I wrote about these diet hacks that work on my blog. I’m so tired of people trying to peddle their BS. How about sharing tips that will work for everyone.

  40. Great article. Surprisingly I do all 11 hacks.
