One of my dogs is an epileptic & used to have horrible grand-mal seizures. I read an article about giving pets with epilepsy coconut oil & have been doing it for over a year, with no seizures! I’ve told other pet owners about it & they have had similar results. Love, love, love it!

    • Darrel says:

That sounds like a good idea, how much do you give your dog, would like to know as a friend of mine has dog that has the same problem.

    • Dar says:

Like Darrel I would also like to know the dosage. I have an epileptic dog that is on phenobarbital which destroys the liver and therefore would love to get her off but obviously don’t want her to go back to having seizures. Thanks for sharing

  2. Eric says:

Who wrote this? What’s the proof? My nutrition-oriented MD and chiropractor both say that ALL OILS are nothing but fat, and ought not be added to a gluten-free vegan eating plan.

    • Diana says:

Oils are essential in all diets. You should not eat them in excess, but there are benefits to eating oils and fats. avoid hydrogenated oils, but for example, olive oil is good. Of course remember in MODERATION. Deep frying will always be bad.

    • Kenneth says:

Coconut oil is rich in MCT’s which are medium chain triglycerides. These are processed by your liver which converts them to ketones which are an alternate fuel source for the brain. This is why it helped the dog with epileptic seizures mentioned above. 2 tablespoons 3 times a day works wonders for Alzheimer patients, Google Dr. Mary Newport coconut oil and Alzheimers.

    • Lisa says:

Sorry, but you’re wrong. Vegans especially need a high percentage of healthy vegetable fats if they are going to maintain their health. Please do your own research, it seems like your health advisers are not very well educated.

    • Kat says:

Of course your MD is going to tell you this..they don’t want to know anything of natural cures, they rather push the chemical drugs on you. There are many doctors now talking about taking natural cures. Lighten up………….

When you say to drink down coconut oil, how much? Are there different amounts for different conditions? Like how much for a yeast infection versus how to assist with weight loss?

  6. Yarru says:

coconut oil saved my tooth that the dentist said I would either have to have a root canal on or have it pulled. I had neither and that was over two years ago. I did oil pulling with extra virgin coconut oil (from the health store) and when I woke up the next morning, most all of the infection that made me go to the emergency room in sever pain was gone and I had no pain at all. I continued with the oil pulling and never had to go back to the dentist. I took about a teaspoon of the oil and swished it around in my mouth constantly for at least 20 minutes than rinsed really good with sea salt and brushed my teeth. Some people can be allergic to it but most people aren’t. Coconut oil has saved my tooth so I think it is amazing!

Thank you for this article. I have suffered from gluten and lactose problems all my life. I also had acne and hormone problems and got cavities in my teeth from eating soya products. I was desperate to be healthy and heard about coconut oil. 18months later I am a new person. We use coconut oil for so much! We put it on our faces. It has helped my husband’s dermatitis on his face and my acne! I had a Herxheimers reaction to it at first and almost stopped using it but continued as I was allergic to most skin creams. I sm glad I did. Coconut oil has helped my oily acne-prone skin clear up and no more oily shine! My hormones are better and no more hormone problems! We use only coconut oil for cooking and baking, we use it in our coffee and herbal teas, in smoothies. My teeth are better, no more issues with candida infections, I lost weight and the doctor says I am in good health. Coconut oil has made my husband and I very happy!

  11. Tiktik says:

Good new! The simple way to remove coconut oil stain. Just use baby powder heap on the stain leave them for half hour or longer if you like the powder will absorb the oil :)
